The state of Massachusetts requires all all applicants applying a Real Estate License to meet the following:
- Over the age of 18
- Have a Social Security Number
Step 1: Take Massachusetts Real Estate Pre-licensing Education (40 hours)
The Massachusetts Real Estate Board mandates that you must complete 40 hours of Pre-Licensing education before taking your state exam.
The real estate class may be taken online, at an approved school.
Step 2: Pass The Massachusetts Pre-Licensing Course Exit Exam
Once you complete the required class, you will need to take the exam. This is a 100 question test and requires a minimum score of 75% to pass.
Step 3: Gain approval from the Massachusetts Board of Real Estate Brokers and Salespersons
The MA real estate licensing Board requires three candidate endorsements from people who are not related to you before you may take the real estate exam. These people don't have to live in Massachusetts.
You will then mail your application to the PSI office to get pre-approved to take the licensing exam.
Step 4: Take the Massachusetts Real Estate Exam Prep
Although not required by the state of MA, I highly recommend taking a real estate license ma practice exam. By doing so, you will become familiar with the style of questions asked on your state exam and also find areas you may need to learn more about.

Step 5: Take The Massachusetts State Real Estate Salesperson Exam
Finally, you will be ready for the Massachusetts real estate salesperson license exam, which is given by PSI, There are 80 questions to be answered in 150 minutes for the National section of the exam. There are 40 questions in the State section, and you have 90 minutes to respond to them.
The MA real estate license exam cost $85. This cost includes the application fee and the exam fee.
